About me

de%20Paor_Donal%20(6)finsmThanks for checking out my blog. Professionally, I have had my share of failures and successes in my ten-year career to date. I have international management experience in a variety of functional and project management roles across multiple Sage ERP product lines in Customer Support, Operations and Software Development. I recently graduated with an MBA student from the Beedie School of Business in downtown Vancouver. I love to learn, connect with people and turn good teams into great teams. This blog will discuss my personal perspective on business and concepts I learn in my studies or readings.

I have a beautiful wife Min Chi. She is my soul mate and valued companion in good times and bad. I am a proud dad to Liam de Paor. I am also fortunate to have a wonderful family back in Ireland. I miss them often and hope to return home eventually even if the standard of life has certainly declined after the bust of the Celtic Tiger.  I have come to value the humor of the people, the quality of the debate, the dreadful weather and the beauty of the country far more since I left home in my early twenties. That said there are good people everywhere. I am fortunate to have made many wonderful friends in Ireland, California, Sydney and Vancouver.

Please feel free to share your comments with me on any post or related topic. I am a firm believer that dissent is patriotic. The greater the variety of contributions the more informed I am likely to be.

Thanks again,

Donal

    • It only makes sense to return after the country goes bankrupt. I will return eventually. It will be several years at least. Some very tough decisions have been avoided. Ireland won’t recover until this happens.

    • Hi Bob,

I was checking out your website. Very impressive. It’s great to hear from you. Do you remember that you guaranteed my first car, my little Miata. I thought I was so cool when I was driving a convertible in Southern California. :)

What are you up to these days? I remember you had just become a dad the last time we spoke. I see the little guy is growing up. I am going to be a Dad in November.

  1. Those care free days living in south CA seem so distant now, a pity we can invent in a time machine so we could go back and choose a different path. Come to think of it, I saw that movie…

    • We create our future though. Things will get better. You’ll see. :) Who knew you would have your own consulting business a few years ago. You were pretty bored professionally when I left.
